Explore with us one of the most important wetlands in the Balkans. Designated as a Natura 2000 protected site and important Bird Area, the Gialova lagoon provides shelter to 271 of the 442 recorded bird species in Greece, many of which are rare. A key stopover in the flyway of migratory birds, thousands of birds visit the
lagoon each autumn for a final rest before making the long flight over the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert.
