The Greek Revolution of 1821 as a pivotal chapter in Greek history and a piece in the puzzle of world history.
The goal of this tour is to comprehend the Greek Revolution of 1821, to highlight its significance, its relationship with other revolutions and wars for independence that flared up at approximately the same time, and the effect it had on the rest of the world and how it was affected by it.
The Greek War of Independence, also known as the Greek Revolution referred to by Greeks in the 19th century as simply the (Greek : Agonas) “Struggle”, was a successful war of independence waged by Greek revolutionaries against the Ottoman Empire between 1821 and 1830.
The Greeks were later assisted by Great Britain, France and Russia, while the Ottomans were aided by their North African vassals, particularly the eyalet of Egypt. The war led to the formation of modern Greece. The revolution is celebrated by Greeks around the world as independence day on 25 March.
A big festival, called Miaoulia, takes place in Hydra every year the last weekend of June, to honor Admiral Miaoulis, a most important man of the Greek Revolution
Miaouleia are the largest events of the island, dedicated to the Admiral Andreas Miaoulis, held each year approximately at the last week of June, to mark the 177 years after the death of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis.
The event includes, in the day before the last, celebrations, the welcomming of the representatives of the Goverment, the Navy and the officials at City Hall by the Mayor and the City Council.
The last day, there is a Holy Mass at the Cathedral and a transfer from the Archive – Museum of the vessel with the heart of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis. Then a memorial service at the statue of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis.
In “Miaouleia” unless part of the ritual, including exhibitions, lectures, musical events, theatrical performances, games, folk dances, torch, boating and sports games.
Followed by a crowd, honoring thus this feast of remembrance events and people that played a major role in the outcome of the revolution of 1821.
The festivities end with the burning of fireworks, and the enactment of the Battle of Gerontas and the burning of the Ottoman flagship, the final day of events.

Meeting point at Metochi Argolida ( Agios Charalambos) take all your luggage and personal items with you, transfer by chartered boat to the beatutiful island of Hydra. Hydra without the existence and noise of cars, since they have no place on the island, is offered for endless walks on its freshly whitewashed cobbled streets with the imposing mansions, but also down to the port, with the sea breeze..Arrival, and unique transfer from the port to our hotel with donkeys,unforgetable experience. Check-in at your hotel, free time to explore the capital of the small cosmopolitan island. Overnight.
After breakfast, you will visit the historical museum of Archivies in Hydra with the stuffed heart of Andreas Miaoulis, its mansions (Tsamadou, Koundourioti etc.), the Monastery of Faneromeni, where the Diocese is.Free time to walk around the narrow streets of the town or to ride a donkey for a donkey- tour. Enjoy your lunch at the special place in a quite neighborhood with special meal of 1821 food paths.
At the night you will watch the festivities of Miaoulia, which culminate with the representation of the Elder's Battleship and the burning of the Turkish Flagship, closing solemnly with the burning of fireworks.Miaoulia is the big celebration of Hydra that takes place every year in the last week of June which is closer to the 21st of June. These are events in honor of the great Admiral of Hydra Andreas Miaoulis who offered a lot to the Struggle for the Liberation of the Nation, which last a week. They are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy wonderful events during the day and fireworks at night.Overnight.

Cancellation between 29 to 15 calendar days will incur a penalty of 50%.
Cancellation between 14 to 6 calendar days will incur a penalty of 70%.
Cancellation received within 5 calendar days will incur a penalty of 100% per person.

The celebration of the 200 years since the outbreak of the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the War of Independence is a key historical event which, seen and analyzed in a creative way, can constitute the basis for a fertile dialogue between the Greek society and the country’s institutions.
Memory isn’t something static, and History isn’t exclusively related to the past, as it can offer a continuing lesson – useful for our present and our future. Especially for us – Greeks, History and Culture are undoubtedly the driving forces for our survival in our nation’s adventurous journey into space-time.
