A half day tour that introduces you to the most important products of the area: olive oil and wine. It starts with a relaxing walk through an ancient olive grove and a traditional vineyard, then we visit a multi-awarded winery and an olive oil mill. The tour finishes with a revealing olive oil tasting & wine workshop accompanied with small gourmet olive oil dishes and a traditional lunch.
The olive oil & wine tour is the most full tour with experiencing two amazing products of the area, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil and The Wine.
We start our day in the Castle of Androusa..the view of the Messinian valey is the starting point to our journey of knowledge of the local gastronomy and traditional products.
Then only 3’ drive away is a local but multi awarded winery….With the owners we talk about the production, the history and the varieties of the local wine…we participate in a wine tasting of 3 different Wine varieties and we discover the aromas of Greek Wine
Next we visit the olive Mill to find out about the liquid gold of Messinia , to participate in an interactive Olive oil tasting workshop and to enjoy our light meal .

A fun and informative tour :
1.Explore the castle of Androusa
Our meeting point is at the 13th century castle of Androusa, located in the heart of Messinia, just a 20 minute drive from Kalamata and 10 minutes from Ancient Messene, so as to reach an ancient olive grove. We prepare our coffee next to the perennial olive trees and we start our relaxing walk towards the vineyard. We discover the Greek wine varieties, and find out stories and secrets about the supreme wine that we are going to taste.
2.Visit a multi awarded winery
Next we visit the winery to witness the production of the Greek wine varieties and taste at least 4 different wines. The aromas of Greek wine varieties surprise us!
3.Explore the castle of Androusa
The castle of Androusa with the magnificent view at the endless olive groves of Messinia is our next destination. We have fun by discovering an “olive treasure”, while we talk about the history, the tradition and the mythical stories of the castle’s olive trees…
4.Visit an olive oil mill
In the center of Androusa Village, only 200m away, we visit a unique Olive Oil mill that has been located there for more than 120 years. The 5th generation owner will explain to us the procedure of the extraction, the storage and standardization process of the extra virgin olive oil in the past and nowadays.
5.Discover the quality of extra virgin olive oil in an olive oil tasting workshop!
Τhe dining table is set with the special blue olive oil tasting glasses awaiting you to become a tasting expert! Taste the extra virgin olive oil of the Koroneiki variety and learn about its sensory characteristics, recognize the elements that define the extra virgin olive oil, taste different varieties of Greek extra virgin olive oil such us “Manaki”, “Chalkidikis”, “Makris” etc and evaluate them…
6.Pair your food with extra virgin olive oil!
What about food? The extra virgin olive oil of different varieties is matched with traditional recipes including yogurt, fruit and vegetables. You will be surprised!
7.Enjoy a traditional light meal
The day, full of emotions and new knowledge, ends with a variety of traditional dishes..Fresh vegetables from our garden, Greek Gruyère cheese, tzatziki, Kalamata olives, olive tapenade, lalagia (local breadsticks), smoked ham and sausage, spinach pie, vegetable stew and of course wine and homemade dessert.

Participants should feel comfortable in walking and able to walk.
For any tour is required a minimoum number of participations in order to be materialized. In case of less participants our travel agency has the right to cancel the tour or to postpone the date in another with more participants.Last day of information about the materialisation of the tour can be 1 day before departure as some new last minute - bookings or cancelations can influence the tour.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the prebooked tour.
